A safe place. Friends and caring adults that listen. Biblical morality. A Faith that lasts. These are our values. Our Student Ministry is comprised of 100+ Middle and High School Students. They attend a variety of schools. Smyrna, La Vergne, Blackman, Siegel, MTCS, Ezell-Harding, Stewarts Creek, Central Magnet, Rock Springs, Thurman Francis and more as well as home school programs. Over 20 adults are involved weekly and actively with our Student Ministry. Our three main goals are Discipleship, Service and Church Family. We want to graduate baptized, spirit filled disciples of Jesus who get their hands dirty helping others and feel an ongoing connection to the multi-generational church family.
We meet for prayer, Bible study and worship on Sunday mornings and Wednesday nights. On Sunday mornings the entire student ministry gathers for announcements and prayer before breaking into separate high school and middle school classes. Sundays are spent studying biblical text and on Wednesdays we study biblical themes. Normally, on the first Wednesday night of each month, we have HighPoint - an evening of revival in praise and worship. We also offer a ministry entitled Life Hurts, God Heals: a support class/group for teens who have experienced trauma, loss and addiction and True Love Waits: a focus on our relationship to Christ and his role in marriage.
Our small groups generally meet Sunday night at the church building from 4:30PM - 7:00PM for worship, games, group time and food. We've all heard stats on how many young people leave the faith after High School. What types of teens hold onto their Christian faith during their 20s? Several studies show that teens who are regularly involved in acts of service alongside adults have the greatest likelihood of practicing Christianity as adults. Because of this, our small group ministry is comprised of LIFE Groups that pray, read Scripture and share what's going on in their lives while building relationships. Our groups are led by students, alongside an adult coach in every group. Each LIFE Group dedicates themselves to loving others in their chosen area of service.
