Through the power of God’s Holy Spirit, we will work to seek and save the lost by proclaiming the Gospel in word and deed, in order to make mature Disciples of Christ who share Him with others.

The ministry of Ambassadors for Christ (AFC) is to spread the good news of the gospel as Christ’s ambassadors and to establish indigenous churches throughout Honduras.

The foundation of the ministry of AFC are the 5 Honduran ministers that work in Tegucigalpa and outlying villages near the city. The ministers that serve in Honduras are Roberto Mineros, who is supported by The Central Church of Christ in Cedar Rapids, IA; Remberto Osorto, supported by the Manchester Church of Christ in Manchester, CT; Lester Lopez, minister that preaches and works with families at the AFC clinic; Victor Flores, supported by Smyrna Church of Christ preaches in El Zamorano and  AFC, while working with the families enrolled in the Nutrition program at the AFC clinic. Lorenzo Gomez, supported by Mt. View Church of Christ in Buena Vista, CO. In order to reach the lost in Honduras, the ministry of AFC includes various methods of reaching people physically and spiritually:

• Medical and Dental Clinic
• Nutrition Ministry
• Teaching and preaching to the poor at the clinic and in remote villages.

Providing educational help through cooking, training in cosmetology, Bible studies, money management counseling, clean water projects, counseling and leadership training for young men ages 14 and older.

This ministry is enhanced by short-term mission groups that work through AFC to provide VBS, food distribution, building homes, medical/dental care and other needs.

We are therefore Christ’s ambassadors, as though God were making his appeal through us. We implore you on Christ’s behalf, be reconciled to God. (2 Cor. 5:20) The mission of AFC is also in accordance to that of Smyrna Church of Christ’s mission guidelines: Through the power of God’s Holy Spirit, we will work to seek and save the lost by proclaiming the Gospel in word and in deed, in order to make mature disciples of Christ who share Him with others, because He has said to us “… go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the  name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit and teaching  them to obey everything I have commanded you….”  (Matthew 28:19-20).

The Missions Learning Center was opened in 2004. This center is an interactive learning experience, the purpose of which is to teach the children of our congregation about other countries and the responsibility of Christians to take the “good news” about Christ to the world.
